Karlyn's Freestyle is not only FAST, it is very EFFICIENT. Notice the "high-elbow catch," the great body balance, and the quick release pull. The power phase occurs early in the pull, about the front third of her stroke, then she "relaxes and releases" the pressure before the PULL becomes a PUSH. While it might look like she's finishing her pull all the way to her thigh, notice that her elbow is out of the water and into the recovery when her hand sweeps by her hip. Much like a canoe paddler that simply cannot yank the paddle out of the water right after the power phase, what you are observing is the follow-through.
